thinking about signs following believers…drop the theology and look at it in a logical practical sense. We Pentecostals have a praxis standard rather than theological so we follow experience and then grab scripture to support our experience.

Early Pentecostal meetings met in homes, schools, small buildings with even a small congregation crowding a room. In that room would (might) be a piano, a small podium and a wood/coal stove especially in winter. Lights were hung by wiring from the ceiling suspended overhead by a rubber bulb socket. It would be over everyone’s heads but raised hands often bumped into these bulbs.

In fervent worship there would be people fall on hot stoves, grab onto hot draft pipes. Trip over hot coal buckets, accidentally grab and hold to a hot light bulb. No one originally meant to have these things happen however when they did often there would not be any burning from these accidents. There would be an ensuing testimony proclaiming the hand of God.

Some would say these phenomenon are fanatical, delusional actions. However the errors took place when someone deduced from scripture that these things can be done intentionally and demonstrate that their faith was real. Therein begins the error! Signs follow the faith of the believer. The faith is not formed by the signs of the believer.

Maybe the real problem is that we meet in buildings too big and designed for security and comfort. We formulate theological creeds and with the proper creed we have the essence of the creed itself.

I believe that signs still follow believers and the signs don’t say much about our faith.

What are your thoughts?

Signs follow bealivers, but theres people being deceived. that is, the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and signs and false wonders, and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved.… 2 thesalonians 2:9

God spoke to me once and told me to call my piano player to front and tell her she was dying and had to go to doctor. She did and found out her kidneys were failing. That was scary for me to say n doubt. God still works but I didn’t have anything else to offer anyone. Not a nice building, money etc. Little church good people good fellowship

I once call the piano player out for prayer and he got so mad; thought he was too good to be prayed over. He thought his job was to just play the piano!

speaking in tongues (new tongue) is a sign that should follow believers.
