JESUS SANCTIFIED

[In order for Jesus to CONSECRATE US (sanctify us) to God, and make an atonement for our sins, he suffered without the gate at Jerusalem, just as the sin-offering was consumed without the camp when the tabernacle abode in the wilderness. Sanctification is our next step in fulfilling our relationship with our God!] “…Jesus also, that he might SANCTIFY [purify and consecrate] THE PEOPLE WITH HIS OWN BLOOD, suffered without the gate.” (Heb. 13:12) [Under the Law, the people were commanded to cleanse themselves from all the pollutions of sin, make themselves holy to the service and honor of God, and conform themselves in everything to his holy will and image!] “Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy: for I am the LORD your God.” (Lev. 20:7) [Being forgiven is wonderful, but we need more, we need to be able to standup for God and resist temptation! Sanctification purifies us and gives us power over sin!] “What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! WE ARE THOSE WHO HAVE DIED TO SIN; how can we live in it any longer?” (Rom. 6:1-2) [Dead to sin, alive to God!] “For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him… In the same way, COUNT YOURSELVES DEAD to sin but ALIVE TO GOD in Christ Jesus.” (Rom. 6:9-11) [Sanctification sets us free from sin!] “…now that YOU HAVE BEEN SET FREE FROM SIN and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap LEADS TO HOLINESS, and the result is eternal life.” (Rom. 6:22) [All by the blood of Jesus!] “…do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? And that is what SOME OF YOU WERE. But YOU WERE WASHED [in the blood of Jesus], YOU WERE SANCTIFIED, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.” (1 Corin. 6:9-11) [We are forgiven because of Justification, we are empowered to stand because of Sanctification!] “…since we have been justified through faith, [first step] we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into THIS GRACE [second step] in which WE NOW STAND. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God.” (Rom. 5:1-2)
