Has there been a published version of the Bible where the text was ordered in the order it is best assumed that it was written?

I’m not interested in a version that is ordered in a chronological sense from the perspective of the history of events. There are plenty of those. I would like to find a version that is ordered entierly in the order in which the text was written.

Obviously, some texts were written around the same time as other portions and an exact chronology may be hard to pin down. That’s why I’m looking for a study Bible because I’d also like to read various footnotes regarding any specific debates on when portions of scripture might have been written.

If such a text does not exist, could someone provide a good reference that has outlined this material?

I don’t think so. The TANAKH (Jewish Publication Society) has them in order of when the books were admitted into the Jewish canon. That would be pretty close to the order of each book’s final redaction/edit.

Some Bibles, like the Tree Of Life Version, have restored the original order of the books in the Hebrew Bible (“Old Testament”), but I am not so sure that any has done the books in a truly “chronological” order. I have always heard, for example, that Job is the oldest book chronologically in The Bible, so that would mean that it should be the first book in The Bible if you are looking for true chronological order, assuming Job really is the oldest.

Would you mind clarifying your question then? From some of the comments, I see that I am not the only person who took it as asking for a Bible with the books in chronological order of when they were written… or when they were believed to have been written, as most of them are just a guess anyway it seems and have a range of when believed to have been written and nothing really locked down.

From what it sounds like you are asking for, I highly doubt something like that exists. If it does, I doubt even more you’d find it asking around on FB. I would recommend reaching out to any major publisher of Bibles or research groups that study the text and history of The Bible that might have some type of document with what you are looking for.

I do know there are some sources online that will give you a chronology of when each chapter of each book was likely to have occurred in. Not sure how well that correlates with when they were written so much as when the events stated would have likely taken place. Biblehub has that feature I believe. Not sure if that would help, but might get you closer to what you want. But I’d say you should look for organizations that specialize in document research of The Bible and go from there.
