Today we look at,

WHAT MAKES THESE CALLED OUT ONES, THIS CHURCH, DIFFERENT?

1. We turn the other cheek. 2. We love our enemies, 3. We do good to those who, despite-fully use us. 4. We go the second mile.

On the day of Pentecost this church was born. And for over 2000 years, it has existed in this world.

The question comes up, How do we know that the church started in the upper room? In Acts 1, Peter leads the discussion about what had transpired about Judas, and held a (council) meeting to appoint another to take his place.

In Act 2:47

Praising God, and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church (????????.)daily such as should be saved.

As time goes by and wards begin to change in meaning, the church has become known as a group of religious people, the assembly of religious people.

Only Christians worship at Churches, Muslims worship in Mosques, Jews worship in Synagogues, Hindus worship in a, Mandir. Confucius worship in temples or anywhere they want to. Shinto worship in shrines.

There is a misconception in the world today, when they refer to the church of Satan. CHURCH is a Christian ward.

Satan does not worship Christ, they try to deceive the world by calling their place of worship a church.

This church is going to meet opposition.

NOW JESUS BREAKS THE BAD NEWS.

“The gates of hell are going to come against the church”

WHAT does He mean, THE GATES OF HELL?

Gen. 19:1 Lot met two angles at the gate, the gate was The headquarters of the city, CITY HALL.

Deut. 22:24 Adulteress brought to the gate of the city. Trial was held and she was stoned.

Ruth 4 Boaz redeemed Ruth at the gate of the city, where the Official records were kept.

Amos 5 God told Amos to establish judgment at the gate, Where local laws were established.

Daniel 2:49 Daniel was made ruler over Babylon at the gate. At the gate order of leadership was conferred.

THE GATE REPRESENTED THE HIGHEST POWER OF AUTHORITY.

ALL AUTHORITY OF HELL WILL NOT PREVAIL AGAINST GODS CHURCH.

The devil has tried, and will keep trying, but he never will be successful.

We will see the hand of God as we study more into the history of the church.

Jesus gives us this promise, John 16:33 “ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”

In the second chapter of Acts, Christ establishes His church (????????). Not a denomination, but a body of believers.

It was this upper room experience that motivated these believers to reach out and that they did.

The Upper Room Today.

While studying with the Asbury Theological Seminary in Israel, the day we visited the Upper Room. Dr. George Turner assigned me to address the class. I chose for my topic, “The need of a rebirth of Pentecost.”

Many changes have taken place since that day in the upper room.
