6) The Bible says, “What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?” (Ro 8:31). The implication of these questions is not that no one is against us but that it makes no difference who is. There is no need to fear the world, troubles, or demonic influences, God is greater and is on our side (1 Jn. 4:4).

7) The body of the believer is the temple of the Holy Spirit and along with the spirit is the property of God (Ps. 100:3; 1 Cor. 6:19-20).

8) The spirit soul and body are sanctified and preserved by God (1 Thes. 5:23-24).

9) The internal battle in the believer’s life is warfare between spirit and flesh not between the Holy Spirit and demons (Ro. 6:1-7:25; Ga. 5:17).

10) One of the purposes of Christ was to destroy the works of the devil (1 Jn. 3:8).

11) There is not one occasion in Scripture where a Christian has a demon cast out of them. There is not one example where a believer is indwelt by a demon.

Because of these portions of Scripture, I believe that it is impossible for a devil/demon/evil spirit to invade a Christian‘s (a believer who desires to live for God) body, soul or spirit and dwell there.

While it is impossible for a devil/demon/evil spirit to invade a Christian‘s (a believer who desires to live for God) body, soul or spirit and dwell there, the enemy often tries to influence the Christian through several means. 1) Satan attacks the Christian on a personal basis by trying to convince the believer to enter into sinful acts. This is called temptation (Matthew 4:1; 1 Corinthians 10:13). This is overcome by submission to the word of God, resistance of the devil, finding God’s way of escape, by taking on the whole armor of God, and prayer (1 Corinthians 10:13; Ephesians 6:12-18; James 4:7). 2) Satan attempts to rob a Christian of victory in his everyday life before God and is only able to do so because the believer is not completely understanding of his position and place in Christ, or is weak in understanding of the gospel. This is deception (Matthew 24:11, 24; 1 Timothy 2:14; Titus 3:3). This is overcome as the Christian takes every thought captive and makes it obedient to Christ, by taking on the whole armor of God, and prayer (2 Corinthians 10:4,5; Ephesians 6:12-18). 3) Satan attacks the ministry of the child of God by placing obstacles in the way and doing everything he can to discourage. Satan may also attempt to convince the Christian that he is unable to perform works of service for God (1 Corinthians 16:9). This is overcome in the same way as the preceding two attacks.

All demonic activity does not always result in demon indwelling. There is a vast difference between demon indwelling and demon influence. In the former, the body is entered and a dominating control is gained; while in the latter, a warfare from without is carried on by suggestion, temptation and influence. These would be the “fiery darts of the wicked” (Ephesians 6:16).
