A Proper Christian Response to the 2016 Indiana Primaries

#TRUMP has defeated his Republican rivals in six straight contests. In Indiana, he could demoralize them. Republican rivals in six straight contests. In Indiana, he could demoralize them.

@Stan Wayne would want us to believe that with this Trump would win the GOP nominations (though the math for that does not really add up)

@Henry Volk would want us to #feelTHEburn though the socialistic push by Bernie could be matched only by Hillary

Texans in the group @Roger David @John Conger @Ricky Grimsley may favor Cruz, but buddy is he between a rock and a hard place tonight?

@Alan N Carla Smith would want us to establish a moral compass that points beyond Hillary in this election, but as @Jon Sellers has pointed out before she is still very much a threat fear to the republican agenda

With this in mind, Christians, especially Pentecostal Christians, seem to be divided in the 2016 primaries. But will they come united at the end and what would be the theological significance of such union within the evangelical vote and the religious right?

No matter who wins…we will still have to deal with a wicked world and preach the truth despite any persecution we may face. The only difference that will be made by who gets in power is how long we will have the right to speak the truth.

I’m not a senior citizen yet (got 5 years to go), but at present we live on my wife’s disability payments. I have a real problem voting for Republicans who believe this to be an “entitlement” and that people who collect such payments are “leeches” and “takers”.
It’d be really nice if a conservative flank arose in the Democratic party again that disdained abortion, etc. so voting wouldn’t be such an exercise in cognitive dissonance for me.

I believe the truth matters to all Christians. Because Jesus Christ is truth personified. Therefore truthfulness in other areas of life and information is very important. In this election we have a serious problem with truth telling. Hillary Clinton has lied about the Benghazi event and the nature of the cause of that attack and death of the ambassador and the others.

Donald Trump has lied about a number of things and just today was lying about Ted Cruz’s father being associated with Lee Harvey Oswald and the death of JFK. Of course, Trump got his information from his favorite news source, the National Enquirer.
Ted Cruz responded and I think we all need to hear very carefully what Ted Cruz says and his assessment of Donald Trump, the man. I agree with Ted Cruz in this regard, 100%. If we elect a person whether, Hillary or Trump, who are known to be habitual and pathological liars, then we have brought upon ourselves a great deception.

Stan, one of the things we have learned about Donald Trump is that he does not keep his promises very well. Several years ago he promised to make Scotland great again. He was going to do that by building a great golf course on the northern shore on the pristine undisturbed sand dunes. He built the course but did not keep his promises to create the jobs, and tourism that would make it great. Now it is losing money. He defrauded banks four times in multiple bankruptcies, he had to have a Saudi prince bail him out financially, and he has lied about every Republican candidate this season. The man is a pathological liar and a narcissist and should receive serious psychological examination.

Truth is CRUZ’S EVANGELIST FATHER RE-EMERGED in INDIANA and is tied up to the New Apostolic Reformation and the Christian Reconstructionism plus the The Seven Mountain Mandate #NAR http://www.pentecostaltheology.com/the-seven-mountain-mandate-nar/

    • Reply May 3, 2016

      Jon Sellers

Troy, did you know that the original seven mountain idea came from Loren Cunningham of YWAM and Bill Bright of Campus Crusade for Christ. They each had separate dreams about how Christians can influence culture beyond the already well known and practiced method of preaching the gospel. So they feel that God told them that Christians can become influential, not take over, but by excellence and pursuit can contribute to the seven mountains that influence culture. It is really pretty simple and has nothing to do with Reconstructionism. Reconstruction is a Calvinist vision of imposing Old Testament law upon the nation. Neither Ted Cruz nor his father are Calvinists, and neither have anything to do with that idea. Ted Cruz is a constitutionalist and by definition would never support anything like Reconstructionism.

    • Reply May 3, 2016

Reconstructionism may have sprung from Calvinist roots, but it caught on among charismatics in a big way.

Jon Sellers It’s been toyed around with. We discussed it when MIKE #BICKLE OF #IHOP ENDORSED #TEDCRUZ and of course #YWAM came into question, but the important theological question here is WHAT a WIN or DEFEAT tonight means for #NAR Reconstruction/Calvinist theology? http://www.pentecostaltheology.com/mike-bickle-of-ihop-just-endorsed-ted-cruz/

  • Reply May 3, 2016

Well, I don’t know that we have any idea how NAR will be affected by the election. Especially since Bill Johnson’s wife Beni is a very rabid Trump supporter. And Lance Wallnau is 100% pro Trump. And in fact Rafael Cruz is not a part of NAR. So I think to get an idea of the impact we would have to look at how people like these respond once the election is over.

  • Reply May 3, 2016

Jon Sellers Agreed. This is what we spoke about a few weeks back that though Cruz is the #NAR persona, the NAR ministers in the video prayed for Trump at his NY tower http://www.pentecostaltheology.com/should-pentecostals-pray-for-donald-trumps-presidency/

  • Reply May 3, 2016

Ricky Grimsley I know that’s a popular sentiment, but I don’t really believe it’s true. There are actually some good people in office. I don’t want to broad brush every Christian to be a certain way or every church denomination to be a certain way nor every politician to be a certain way. But the sad fact is that Trump is a pathological liar. This is more than just political talk to try to appeal to as many people as possible. I believe he has a serious psychological issue.

Jon Sellers Are you saying a split convention for GOP ?

    • Reply May 3, 2016

      Jon Sellers

Yes, Abraham Lincoln won the nomination on either the second or third ballot. Let us not forget that the Republican Party is not the government, but is instead a private entity that is created to put forth candidates for public office. As a party they then develop a political philosophy and platforms that they hope will appeal to enough Americans that they can get elected. The primary process is a way of putting the candidates out there to find out what people think and which candidates seem to resonate the most with the public. However, the rules have been in place for a long time and they are very clear that no one can be nominated unless they get 1237 delegate votes at the convention on either the first ballot or a subsequent ballot. And it is also still true that the non-Trump vote is larger than the pro Trump vote nationwide as counted so far in all the primaries and caucuses held. So the best thing is for Ted Cruz to win Indiana and California and to go to a contested convention where the delegates who have been chosen by their states can vote for the candidate they prefer.

As a Senior citizen living on social security, it is more like social in-security. I hear a people make the statement, “I’m not going to vote, I don’t like any of them.” the following is part of one of my past post. One thing we Americans hold dear to our heart is the opportunity to express our-self in the election process. Many, however don’t thing that their vote means any thing. I have heard it said that my vote doesn’t count so why vote? Please don’t take that attitude go VOTE. If you feel like being patriotic please feel free to re-post this. The next time you ask if one votes count, consider the following:

    1. 1776, by one vote gave America the English language, over German.
    2. 1920, by one vote women were given the wright to vote.
    3. 1850 California was admitted to the union by one vote.
4.1941, Selective Service act (draft) was passed by one vote margin, this was done just one week before Pearl Harbor. Dec. 7, 1941.
    5. 1923, November 8, members of the them recently formed revolutionary political party, by one vote chose Adolph Hitler to be the leader of the Nazi Party.
    6. 1868, one vote in the U. S. Senate saved President Andrew Jackson from impeachment.

I will in the near future post the entire statement.

So I ask you to express your God given privilege as an American to vote. Luchen Bailey.http://andnowyouknowmore.blogspot.com

July 1920, with a number of primarily southern states adamantly opposed to the amendment, it all came down to Tennessee. It appeared that the amendment might fail by one vote in the Tennessee house, but twenty-four-year-old Harry Burns surprised observers by casting the deciding vote for ratification. At the time of his vote, Burns had in his pocket a letter he had received from his mother urging him, “Don’t forget to be a good boy” and “vote for suffrage.” Women had finally won the vote.
